Brazilian singer-songwriter and actor Seu Jorge is known to millions as "Knockout Ned" in the film City of God and as the crew member in the The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou performs David Bowie covers on his guitar while singing in Portuguese. What most people don't know about Seu Jorge is that he was once a homeless kid in the favela north of Rio. As intrinsically and proudly Brazilian as Jorge is, his music and culture and most of all drive, lifted him up from the depths. Having spent years turning his energies to music and theater, Jorge landed the part in City of God, the film that put an international spotlight on favela life, poverty, and violence. Since then his musical performances have mesmorized the senses of many with an undulating fever of excitement. He is considered by many a renewer of Brazilian pop samba. Seu Jorge cites samba schools, and American soul singer Stevie Wonder as major musical influences.
Seu Jorge is now exploring a new passion: fashion by teaming up with American designer, Rachel Roy to create a limited edition capsule collection. The collection will fuse the sensuality of Brazilian culture & music into the clothing in a unique way.
